For women who ride their own motorcycle and want to discover southern Tunisia with other women riders. The route is that of Chasing the Nomad Caravans, from Djerba to the gateway of the Sahara, but the group is 100% women, led by a female tour leader, and runs on its own dates, in May and October. Other editions are on the Girls Ride page.
Wildust Sisters is a clothing and accessories brand for women riders, designed “by women, for women”, and a partner of the Girls Ride since the Morocco edition of May 2025. On the road, an English-speaking female tour leader leads the way, with a mechanic and the driver of the support vehicle, which takes the luggage and spare parts. The group is limited to 10 motorcycles (12 participants with pillions).
Intermediate: you ride regularly and are happy to leave the tarmac. The route alternates between roads through the Dahar and stretches of track, with sand between Ksar Ghilane and Douz. Stages are often far from medical help, hence the support vehicle riding behind the motorcycles.
Yes, if you are confident on the road, but prepare for it. The 2-day Girls Ride off-road training in France, also with the Wildust Sisters and on Himalayans, teaches the basics of riding on tracks before you leave. Your travel advisor can also tell you whether the tour matches your experience.
Just over 620 miles (1,000 km) over the 5 riding days, between 100 and 155 miles (160 to 250 km) per stage: Djerba, Tataouine, Ksar Ghilane, Douz, Matmata, then back to Djerba. The pace leaves time to stop in the ksour, the oases and the mountain villages.
You ride a Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, with a seat height of 800 mm. A lowered version at 790 mm exists. If in doubt, tell your travel advisor your height and the bike you usually ride before booking. Our mechanic follows the group and services the motorcycles every day.
Yes, as on all our tours. She shares the motorcycle of one of the riders in the group and pays £1,490 (€1,740), against £1,890 (€2,090) for the rider. Her luggage travels in the support vehicle. She must be happy with a few stretches of track and sand, which are bumpier on the back.
The £1,890 (€2,090) rider price covers the Himalayan, fuel, the female tour leader and the local team, the nights, meals from breakfast on day 2 to breakfast on day 7 and the shuttles to and from Djerba airport. On top: your flights, dinner on the first evening, drinks, site entrance fees, tips and a €600 deposit per motorcycle.
The route keeps to the south of the country, from Djerba to the Dahar and the fringe of the Sahara, and the group never rides without its team or its support vehicle. Read the UK Foreign Office (FCDO) travel advice before signing up, and talk it over with your travel advisor.
Meet us at Djerba airport on day 1: our team drives you to Houmt Souk, then back to the airport on day 7. The nights are simple and characterful, in a fondouk, a ksar and a troglodyte guesthouse, including one with shared bathrooms. Hot days, cool mornings and evenings: pack a warm layer, rain gear and a soft bag.
