Discover our motorcycle tour in Türkiye

There’s no better way to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Turkey than astride a motorbike with a rich history and character befitting the country itself. A Royal Enfield tour in Turkey guarantees an incredible experience with ever-changing scenery! There are semi-arid plains, mountains with snow-capped peaks, untamed coastline, breathtaking views, superb beaches, and authentic villages. And let’s not forget Istanbul, one of the most beautiful cities in the world with an extraordinary historical heritage. If your ideal Europe motorbike tour is an adventure that feels like a complete departure from your day-to-day life, Turkey is guaranteed to delight.

When’s the best time to visit Türkiye? May to October is the perfect time for doing a motorcycle tour in Türkiye. But be warned, it’s hot in Türkiyeduring the summer. Istanbul is a microclimate influenced by the sea and the Bosphorus, making its climate very dynamic. The hot and humid summer is peppered with thunderstorms, showers and morning mist. The climate along the coast is typically Mediterranean with hotter temperatures on the south coast. With a wide range of elevations the climate varies greatly from one region to another, being especially complex inland. Central Anatolia has a continental, semi-arid climate. In summer, this vast plateau enjoys pleasant temperatures with cool nights. Winters are extremely harsh in Anatolia. More to the east, mountains and snow-capped peaks surround highland pastures, with the Taurus Mountains to the south and Caucasus Mountains to the north. Spring and autumn are ideal for your motorcycle tour in Türkiye , with May and September being the best months.

Straddling Europe and Asia, Türkiye is made up of the East Thrace on the European continent and Anatolia, also known as Asian Türkiye. The country shares borders with Greece, Bulgaria, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. During a motorbike tour in Türkiye, you’ll take to the roads in the highland plateaux, crossing the country from east to west at almost 1,500m. On the other side of the Taurus Mountains is Eastern Anatolia (Mesopotamia, Cilicia and Carmania). Türkiye is a mountainous country with the Anti-Taurus Mountains and Türkiye’s highest peak, Mount Ararat, at 5,165 m altitude to the north. Türkiye has almost 8,000 km of coastline and is surrounded by four seas: the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, known as the “Turquoise Coast”, the Sea of Marmara with the Turkish Straits –the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles passages, representing the geographical borders between Europe and Asia– and the Aegean Sea facing a long, rugged coastline. This complex, diverse geography is waiting to be explored on a Royal Enfield tour in Türkiye.

motorcycle trip in Türkiye lets you take a step back in time to uncover the history of this fascinating country. The Hittites, Greek and Romans have all had a visible impact on Anatolia’s history. The Roman Empire established its eastern capital there. Byzantium became Constantinople in 330. Christianity made its mark and became the pillar of the Byzantine Empire on the trade route to Asia. In the 6th century, Constantinople experienced its golden age. The Byzantine Empire lasted from the 4th century until the 13th century, when the Ottomans arrived and invaded Constantinople with Mehmed the Conqueror in 1453. Saint Sophia cathedral was converted into a mosque and Byzantine Constantinople became Istanbul. Suleiman the Magnificent was instrumental in the 16th century and the Ottoman Empire spread across the Mediterranean from Austria to the Red Sea and from the Persian Gulf to Algeria. However, the Ottoman Empire slowly started to decline in the 17th century. In 1923, the country was declared the Republic of Türkiye and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk became the first president. Türkiye has been a NATO member since 1951. Since 2002, Türkiye has undertaken many reforms in an attempt to comply with European regulations. This dynamic blend of ancient history and modern comforts, and so much more, is waiting for you to explore on your motorcycle road trip in Türkiye.

Motorcycle trips in Turkey: frequently asked questions

Vintage Rides motorcycle trips in Turkey are offered at €1,990/rider (7 days) or €2,890/rider (9 days), depending on the level of commitment you are looking for.

  • The Treasures of Anatolia (7 days, Discovery ride): €1,990/rider, €1,640/passenger.
  • Cappadocia: Exploration Between Earth and Sky (9 days, Adventure raid): €2,890/rider, €2,390/passenger.

What the price includes:

  • A Royal Enfield motorcycle and spare parts
  • Petrol, car parks and tolls
  • Third-party motorcycle insurance
  • Airport–hotel–airport transfers
  • A French- and English-speaking motorcycle guide
  • A local team (mechanic, support vehicle driver)
  • A support and luggage vehicle
  • Standard accommodation in twin or double rooms
  • Full board (water, tea and coffee included)
  • Entry fees for sites included in the itinerary (Hierapolis, Myra, Patara, etc. on the Anatolia route)
  • 24/7 telephone assistance from France

What the price does not include:

  • International flights and visa fees
  • International driving licence, if required
  • Medical expenses insurance and repatriation assistance (compulsory)
  • Legal protection insurance and cancellation insurance (strongly recommended)
  • A €600 deposit per motorcycle
  • Drinks, tips, souvenirs and personal expenses
  • Registration fee (€35)

The two routes have very different profiles:

  • The Treasures of Anatolia: Accessible level. The route is almost entirely surfaced (1,100 km), with a single easy, rolling off-road section of around 10 km – less than 1% off-road. You simply need to be comfortable on a motorcycle and not put off by a bumpy road at 40 km/h in places.
  • Cappadocia: Exploration Between Earth and Sky: Intermediate level. Over 1,500 km in total, there is around 260 km of off-road riding, nearly 20% of the route, spread over several days (up to 58 km of track in a single stage). This raid involves daily riding stages of 5 to 6 hours and requires good physical fitness.

Vintage Rides has chosen the Royal Enfield, a mid-capacity motorcycle that is simple, robust and endearing, suited to both road and off-road sections. It is this versatility that allows us to offer varied itineraries, from the most accessible to the most demanding, while keeping a consistent riding experience for the group.

Our Turkey tours use the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, the brand’s adventure motorcycle, chosen for its versatility: it is just as comfortable on the long coastal and mountain roads of the Anatolia route as on the more technical off-road sections of the Cappadocia raid.

The basic requirement is the same for all our tours: you must hold a motorcycle licence and be a regular rider, comfortable riding on the road. Beyond this common baseline, the required level then varies according to the chosen route. Our motorcycle tours in Turkey are divided into two levels:

  • Accessible: The Treasures of Anatolia: a regular rider, comfortable on the road, can take part without any off-road experience.
  • Intermediate: Cappadocia: Exploration Between Earth and Sky: this raid is reserved for experienced riders, requiring good physical fitness to cope with daily riding stages of 5 to 6 hours and frequent off-road sections.

Not sure about your level? We recommend taking a riding course before you leave: the perfect opportunity to brush up on off-road riding basics, get used to the size of a Royal Enfield, and set off on your next adventure with confidence.

The two routes offer deliberately different experiences, and there is no universal answer, it all depends on what you are looking for.

What the two itineraries have in common: immersion in Turkish culture, with ancient sites, spectacular landscapes and local hospitality.

  • For a gentle first discovery: The Treasures of Anatolia. This route runs along the Mediterranean between Antalya, Kaş and Pamukkale, with an almost entirely road-based programme and a strong cultural dimension (Hierapolis, Myra, Aphrodisias, Lake Salda). Ideal for discovering Turkey by motorcycle without any technical challenge.
  • For lovers of spectacular landscapes and a challenge: Cappadocia: Exploration Between Earth and Sky. A more demanding raid through the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia, the Anti-Taurus mountains, and the Karanlık canyon with its rock-cut tunnels. More physically demanding, but with even wilder panoramas.

In short: it is hard to say objectively which is “the most beautiful”, it is above all a question of level and desire. Culture and gentleness for one, spectacular landscapes and a sporting challenge for the other.
