Arrival in Delhi
Namaste! Welcome to Delhi, the lively Indian capital. Our representative will meet you at the airport on arrival with all your documents and schedule for tomorrow's flight to Leh. A private car will take you to your hotel. For your first day, you can either rest up at the hotel or head out to discover the bustling capital. Note: your tour guide will be waiting for you in Leh
Delhi - Leh Stage 2/14 9.3 miles
Delhi - Leh
After an early breakfast, head to Leh by air. Once arrived in the beautiful capital of Ladakh, an introductory motorcycle ride for those in good shape. For others, rest to acclimatize to the altitude before starting your himalayan motorcycle tour. Overnight at the hotel at 11483 feet altitude.
East Indus Valley Stage 3/14 47 miles
East Indus Valley
You depart in the morning towards the east of the Indus Valley. This first day allows you to stay at the same altitude and acclimatize well, while getting a feel for your motorcycles! The objective of the day: discover some of the most beautiful Ladakhi monasteries, such as Thiksey, for a beautiful introduction to Tibetan Buddhism.

It's the grand departure! On our Royal Enfields, we cross the impressive gorges of the Indus heading west. We take the Khargil road, towards Lamayuru and its perched monastery, the most prestigious Tibetan gompa in Ladakh. Overnight in a simple guesthouse at 11483 feet altitude.

The journey continues: we proceed west into the Zanskar region, crossing the Fotu La pass. We ride up the Indus River, passing through small villages steeped in fascinating Tibeto-Buddhist culture. Overnight at the hotel at 10830 feet altitude.

We resume the road towards Leh. We take advantage of this short stage to admire and visit several remarkable monasteries: Likir, or the astonishing Phyang monastery and its 900-year-old museum.
Leh - Hunder Stage 7/14 78 miles
Leh - Hunder
Ascent towards Khardung La via a series of endless zigzags. Khardung La at 17618 feet is one of the highest motorable passes in the world. A magical panorama of the Zanskar range to the south and the great Karakoram range to the north. Time has stopped. Overnight in camp or hotel at 10174 feet altitude.

Round trip Turtuk (Nubra Valley)
A return to another world, that of the Balti region, where Shia Muslims are the majority, and which was part of Pakistan until the 1971 war. The faces, clothes, food, everything is different from the Buddhist Ladakh you have seen so far. It's a long distance but the road is in rather good condition.

We enjoy the sublime Nubra Valley in the morning light, to leave it quite quickly and follow the course of the Shyok in a monumental valley, where we are like tiny ants! After a local and frugal lunch, we ride towards the immense Pangong Lake, straddling the Indo-Tibetan border. Overnight at the hotel at 14108 feet altitude.

We follow an unconventional itinerary, adding several mountain lakes to the picture, as well as a pass higher than Khardung La, at 17838 feet altitude!! It's a magnificent day, in a preserved and wild environment. This region is called Rupshu (or Changtang), and it is the most isolated region of Ladakh, home to cashmere goat herders, and many Kyang (Tibetan wild asses). Tonight will be our highest night of the trip, sleep may be disturbed. Overnight in a basic guesthouse at 15092 feet altitude.
Tso Moriri Lake - Leh Stage 11/14 149 miles
Tso Moriri Lake - Leh
The return road to Leh, very smooth, is a biker's dream: good asphalt and almost non-existent traffic, the road winds along the river's meanders in the gorges, then the valley gradually widens to reach a monumental dimension as it approaches the capital of Ladakh.

Your incredible discovery of the Indian Himalayas is coming to an end… Very early morning transfer to Leh airport, to take your domestic flight to Delhi. Transfer to the hotel.
Delhi Stage 13/14
Delhi
Free day in Delhi. The Indian capital is immense and intense. Amidst this frenzy, true havens of peace exist: go recharge at Lodhi Garden, admire the modern architecture of the Lotus Temple, discover the capital's small Taj Mahal, as well as Humayun's Tomb (a UNESCO World Heritage site). Overnight at the hotel.

Last day: it's time to savor your last chai, the traditional Indian spiced tea! Your room is reserved until 10 AM. Transfer to Delhi International Airport according to your flight schedule. End of our services.

  • A Royal Enfield motorcycle and spare parts.

  • Gas, parking, any tolls.

  • Third-party motorcycle insurance.

  • Mandatory insurance: insurance covering on-site medical expenses. Repatriation assistance, which covers you in case of 2-wheeler accidents (large displacement).

  • Legal insurance and cancellation insurance highly recommended.

  • The international driving permit.

This is our most accessible Himalayan tour, but it is still high mountains: about 50% good roads, 35% damaged roads and 15% tracks, with tougher sections toward Pangong Lake, plus the altitude. You should ride regularly. Passengers only if you both have off-road experience; there is room for two people in the support vehicle.

Some stages are far from medical facilities: first aid and transport to the nearest medical center rely mainly on our support vehicle, as helicopters and ambulances are rare, and phone coverage can be patchy. As on any adventure route, road conditions depend on the weather during and before the trip.
