The long version, with 9 days of riding and about 750 miles: the colonial town of Santa Fe de Antioquia, Jardín and Salamina, the hot springs of Termales del Ruiz high in the Andes, Salento and the wax palms of the Cocora Valley on a rest day, Honda on the Magdalena River, the Río Claro nature reserve, and the rainbow village of Guatapé, where you climb the 750 steps of El Peñol. Close to the equator, Colombia has no winter: temperatures depend on altitude, mild in the mountains and hot in the valleys. The driest months are December to March and July to August, and most of our departures fall in these windows. Afternoon showers are common in the mountains the rest of the year.

Both tours start and end in Medellín, which has nonstop flights from several US cities, including Miami, New York, Atlanta and Houston. Colombia does not change its clocks: it is on East Coast time in winter and Central time in summer. US citizens do not need a visa for a tourist stay of up to 90 days.
