Sardinia motorcycle tours

Sardinia is Italy’s wildest island: granite mountains, cork oak forests, empty back roads and a coastline of turquoise coves and white dunes. Our Sardinia motorcycle tour is a 7-day loop from Olbia on a Royal Enfield Himalayan, mixing winding mountain roads with rolling but technical dirt tracks, with an English-speaking guide, a mechanic and a support vehicle.

An Adventure Between Sea and Mountain is an adventure tour for riders who already have some off-road experience. From $2,290. It is our only route in Italy: see our motorcycle tours in Italy.

From Olbia, you settle in Tempio Pausania and ride up the granite massif of Monte Limbara, then cross the island to Cala Gonone and its cliffs on the Gulf of Orosei. Inland, the route runs through the villages of the interior to Nurallao and the Giara plateau, famous for its wild horses, then west to Riola Sardo, near the coast of the Sinis.

The next day follows a sandy track along the dunes and the sea to Porto Torres in the north, before a last ride back to Tempio Pausania: 5 days of riding and about 470 miles in all.

This is an adventure tour: around 60% of the riding time is on rolling but technical tracks, from rocky trails in the mountains to sandy tracks along the sea, some of them used by the World Rally Championship. You need some off-road experience; the light Himalayan makes it easier, and the guide gives advice along the way. The support vehicle carries the luggage but cannot follow on most off-road sections: it takes the nearby road and meets the group afterwards.

Passengers are not recommended, unless you have solid two-up off-road experience. If you are new to riding off the pavement, our off-road training in France is the best preparation.

Our departures run in May and June, then in September and October: mild, dry weather, temperatures in the 70s °F, and quiet roads away from the summer crowds on the coast.

Sardinia motorcycle tours: your questions

An Adventure Between Sea and Mountain costs from $2,290 per rider for 7 days, with the Royal Enfield, fuel, accommodation, the guide, the mechanic and the support vehicle included. International flights are not included.

It is a loop from Olbia through Tempio Pausania and Monte Limbara, Cala Gonone, Nurallao and the Giara plateau, Riola Sardo, the coast to Porto Torres, and back: about 470 miles over 5 days of riding.

It is an adventure tour for riders with some off-road experience: around 60% of the riding time is on rolling but technical tracks, including rocky trails and sandy coastal tracks. You need a motorcycle license and regular riding practice.

Passengers are not recommended on this tour, unless you have solid two-up off-road experience. If in doubt, talk to our team before booking.

Fly to Olbia, usually with one connection in Europe, for example via Rome, Milan or Frankfurt. We meet you at the airport. US citizens do not need a visa for a tourist stay in Italy of up to 90 days.
