This motorcycle trip in Thailand is a short and dynamic adventure that takes you from Chiang Mai to the Golden Triangle for a complete immersion in a country with a fascinating culture. Between lush green mountains, terraced rice fields, and ethnic villages, every turn offers breathtaking panoramas and winding roads ideal for motorcycle enthusiasts. You will cross mountain passes, ride along peaceful rivers, and explore forgotten temples, all while meeting local communities and discovering their traditions. This trip combines riding pleasure, cultural immersion, and authentic encounters.

You are welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy this first day to discover Chiang Mai, a major city in Northern Thailand. Ideally located in the heart of the ancient Lanna kingdom, its architectural heritage is breathtaking with no less than 300 temples! Visit Wat Chedi Luang, stroll through the city's various markets, including the famous "night market," and taste your first Thai specialties. This stage marks the beginning of your motorbike tour in Asia. Overnight in a standard hotel in the city center.
Chiang Mai, Chiang Dao Stage 2/7 81 miles

The adventure begins heading North through the vegetable gardens of Chiang Mai, riding up along the banks of the Ping River. You reach the first rice fields on a beautiful, less-traveled winding road, then gain altitude to cross the lush massif that separates you from the splendid Mae Taeng valley. You arrive at the end of the day in Chiang Dao, a small hamlet nestled at the foot of an impressive mountain, famous for its ancient Buddhist temples and its cave steeped in history. Overnight in a standard hotel.

In the morning, you discover the first karst cliffs emerging from a dense forest, dotted with majestic teak trees bordering a brand new asphalt ribbon. You continue North towards the Burmese border through changing, ever wilder landscapes. The road propels you seamlessly towards Doi Angkhang, reaching an altitude of 6562 feet, a summit around which the viewpoints over the surrounding countryside will delight your lenses! After a traditional meal in the village of Ban Luang, you descend into the great plain of Fang, the orchard of northern Thailand, and complete this stage in the small town of Thaton, on the banks of the Kok River, where some traditional « long tail boats » pass through. Overnight in a comfort hotel.
Thaton, Golden Triangle Stage 4/7 93 miles

The adventure continues North, closer to the Burmese border, progressing on breathtaking small mountain roads. After crossing the Fang plain, we climb up to Doi Mae Salong, known for its Chinese mountain village, Santikhiri. In the Mae Fah Luang botanical garden, coffee and tea plantations have replaced the vibrant colors of the poppy. Small secondary roads winding along the Burmese border and the Mekong lead to Chiang Saen, and there you are in the heart of the «Golden Triangle». Overnight in a comfort hotel.

Early in the morning, you leave Chiang Saen, following the Mekong for a few miles then heading South. Between rice fields, pineapple plantations, and other fruits and vegetables, you reach Chiang Rai for lunch. In the afternoon, you can visit the famous White Temple, the Bandam Museum, and the Wat Huai Pla Kung Overnight in a comfort hotel.

You mount your bikes for a final day of riding South to Phayao. A short break in this provincial capital, by a large lake with mountain views. You continue on beautiful forest roads, and even a bit of track until lunch, on the banks of the Mae Kuang. Be vigilant for the last miles and the entry into Chiang Mai where you'll find civilization and traffic! Last evening in Chiang Mai for some shopping or simply to enjoy a final Thai massage. Overnight in a standard hotel in the city center.

Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a few more hours in charming Chiang Mai. Transfer to the international airport.

This discovery tour suits all riders and couples: good, winding mountain roads, many temple visits and comfortable hotels. Thailand drives on the left. Passengers welcome.

Some stages are far from medical facilities: first aid and transport to the nearest medical center rely mainly on our support vehicle, as helicopters and ambulances are rare, and phone coverage can be patchy. As on any adventure route, road conditions depend on the weather during and before the trip.
