Laos motorcycle tours

Mysterious Southeast Asian country, Laos is an authentic and fascinating destination, rich in Buddhist heritage, wild nature, and warm people. Embark on a motorcycle trip in Laos to uncover the secrets of one of the most endearing countries in Asia.

Laos is one of the few countries in Southeast Asia spared from mass tourism. This landlocked territory between China, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia still seems cut off from the world. Here, life flows to the rhythm of roosters and the currents of the Mekong. Amidst tropical jungle, rice fields, and bamboo stilt houses, you will discover, during a motorcycle tour in Laos, the country’s wild landscapes known as the land of a million elephants. You will appreciate this endearing, sparsely populated country that has preserved its culture and values through the trials of its history. During your motorcycle raid in Laos, you will ride along stunning crest roads and trails, among misty mountains and a serene atmosphere.

Luang Prabang: With its harmonious blend of traditional Laotian architecture and colonial mansions, the former royal capital of Luang Prabang is by far the most beautiful city in Laos, and perhaps in all of Asia. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city has an exceptional heritage. On your Laos motorbike tour, you will fall under the spell of its elegant and sophisticated temples. A timeless moment!

The Mekong: Flowing from north to south through Laos over 4,800 km, the Mekong plays a central role in the lives of Laotians. It provides irrigation for crops, is a source of fish, and serves as the country’s main transportation route.

The elephants of ECC: During your motorcycle trip in Laos, you will stay at the Elephant Conservation Center (ECC) in Sayaboury. The Franco-Laotian ECC team fights for the protection of endangered Asian elephants. Once known as the land of a million elephants, Laos now has only about 300 wild elephants and 450 domesticated ones. Vintage Rides proudly supports this unique responsible tourism project in Laos.

Laos has a typical tropical climate of Southeast Asia. The best season for Laos motorcycle tours is from October to February. This is the dry season, with less humidity and cooler temperatures. In the northern mountains, it can even get cold during winter. From May to October, it’s the summer monsoon season with heavy rains and high heat.

If you travel in April, you can experience Pi Mai, the Buddhist New Year, the most important celebration of the year. Pi Mai also marks the beginning of the rainy season. Expect parades, traditional dances and shows, and massive water fights. Laotians take advantage of this festival to splash each other joyfully and refreshingly.
