This Morocco motorcycle tour is a week-long escape that transports us into a total change of scenery, rekindling our desire to explore the central Moroccan High Atlas.

Arrival in Marrakech
You are welcomed at the airport before your transfer to the hotel. This first day is an opportunity to dive into the hustle and bustle of Marrakech, an ideal starting point for your Africa motorcycle tour. An ancient imperial city and cultural heart of Morocco, it is located a few miles north of the high peaks of the Atlas. Explore its fascinating architectural heritage, stroll through the lively alleys of the medina's souk, and savor your first local specialties. Overnight in a comfortable hotel in the city center.
Marrakech - Bin El Ouidane Stage 2/7 124 miles including 37 miles of trail

The adventure begins early in the morning as we set out on our journey to the Berber lands of the High Atlas. Today’s a long leg, taking us to Lake Bin El Ouidane. We leave the plains after an hour and a half on the road to climb the first slopes of this massive and stunning mountain range. In the afternoon, we put ourselves and our bikes to the test on several off-road sections and reach the Ouzoud Waterfalls, among the highest in Morocco. Then, in the late afternoon light, so perfect in Morocco, we wrap up this first leg of the journey at the Bin El Ouidane Reservoir.

We head deep into the heart of the Atlas Mountains and gain altitude. After lunch, we’ll climb again and won’t drop below 6,500 feet until tomorrow afternoon. We’ll either ride to the colossal rock formation known as the Imsfrane Cathedral, followed by the Asif Melloul Gorge, or we may choose to take a little-traveled trail used only by local herders and farmers, which immerses you in the most authentic aspects of these mountains. Before ending the day in Imilchil, your guide may offer you an optional final detour to the granaries of Aoujgal. An unforgettable day in the heart of the magnificent landscapes of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains.
Imilchil - Dadès Gorges Stage 4/7 87 miles including 9.3 miles of trail

A short morning loop to the northeast to explore the natural lakes of Tislit and Isli. Continuing our adventure due south toward the Dades Valley, we once again traverse the mountainous terrain, which never ceases to offer surprising variations, both geological and in terms of vegetation. Taking one of the highest roads in this mountain range, we are then captivated by the deep canyon that precedes the Dades Gorges proper. Even in the middle of summer, this journey offers refreshingly cool temperatures.

Dadès Gorges - The Happy Valley
We drive through the Dades Valley, which widens and offers a few interesting photo stops. Then a stretch of dirt road confirms that you’re indeed on the southern slopes of the High Atlas; shades of ochre and red dominate the landscape, where clusters of oleanders make unexpected appearances. After lunch, we’ll climb the highest pass of this trip (about 9,850 feet), on one of the highest roads in Morocco, descend, and cross another pass at nearly 9,800 feet, finally reaching the lush Tabant Valley, known as “The Happy Valley.” A day of adventure rich in diversity in the heart of these Moroccan landscapes that never cease to amaze you.

Just because it’s the last day of riding doesn’t mean it’s over, or that we’re heading home! This leg of the journey is just as enchanting and fulfilling, taking us through a series of charming Berber villages nestled in a landscape where the blend of red and green vividly reminds us of the country’s flag. And one last mountain pass at about 7,200 feet, absolutely stunning, before finally descending toward the plain, where we’ll encounter traffic and possibly heat as we approach the city. We’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel and spend the evening in the old city to say goodbye to vibrant Marrakech.

  • A Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle and spare parts.

  • Fuel, parking, any tolls.

  • Third-party motorcycle insurance.

  • Mandatory insurance: insurance covering on-site medical expenses. Repatriation assistance, which covers you in case of 2-wheel accidents (large displacement).

  • Legal insurance and cancellation insurance highly recommended.

  • The international driving permit.

This adventure tour is for riders with some off-road experience and good physical fitness; sporty riders with a mountain-biking background can also manage. About 30% of the distance is on tracks, with at least three hours off-road every day, and the days are long, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.: the tour is more tiring than technical. Riding with a passenger is discouraged on this tour. Mornings and evenings are cold in the mountains, days are warm: bring rain gear.

Some stages are far from medical facilities: first assistance is provided by our support vehicle, as helicopters and ambulances are very rare, and the phone network can be unstable. As on any mountain route, road conditions depend on the weather, during and before the tour.
