Ride from the High Atlas to the edge of the Sahara on this Morocco motorcycle tour: 6 days on a Royal Enfield through the southern Atlas, a true land of adventure. Lunar landscapes unfold at every turn, on deserted roads and rolling tracks; you meet the Berbers, discover their oases, kasbahs and crafts, and spend a night in a camp among the dunes of Erg Lihoudi.

Salam! Welcome to Morocco! Your driver will be waiting for you at 2 PM at Marrakech airport to take you to Ait Ben Haddou (private transfer lasting 4 hours). Once settled in your Riad, head to the village Ksar, an 11th-century UNESCO World Heritage site. Take your time to get lost there, every viewpoint is a postcard. This first glimpse sets the tone for your Africa motorcycle tour. Meet the group in the evening for a briefing on the adventure that awaits you.
Ait Benhaddou - Foum Zguid Stage 2/8 112 miles

First day of our Moroccan adventure, we set off crossing Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert, and continue south. A short stop in the authentic Fint palm grove to discover how this agricultural site operates. We then take on the winding roads through an exceptional mineral landscape, with villages forming oases in the hollows of these desert mountains. Travelers are rare on these roads, we feel privileged to cross the Atlas almost alone.
Foum Zguid - Zagora Stage 3/8 121 miles

Today we head towards Zagora. We take the track in the early morning through a valley that seems abandoned, but gradually, we pass through a few villages where scenes of life unfold before us. We settle down for an impromptu picnic, an ideal moment to admire the landscape and stretch our legs. The entrance to Zagora is splendid, we then cross the Draa to reach our Riad.

Morning visit to the Zagora palm grove and the Jewish kasbah where some jewelers still work. We then hit the road for a short stage: heading towards the Erg Lihoudi dunes, which we reach at the end of the day. An authentic camp and dinner await us there. It's time to take off your shoes and wander through the dunes, appreciating the calm and immensity of the place. Welcome to the Sahara.
M’Hammid - N’Kob Stage 5/8 124 miles
M’Hammid - N’Kob
Let's have one last tea with our feet in the sand before hitting the road. We visit Tamegroute, its Koranic library where thousand-year-old manuscripts are preserved. Ahmed also offers us a village tour to discover the local potters, a craft known throughout Morocco. We then take the road via the Draa valley, crossing from one bank to the other. Once we arrive in Nkob, we will take a tour of this typical town in the region, which is home to over 40 Kasbahs.
N'Kob - Dadès Valley Stage 6/8 143 miles
N'Kob - Dadès Valley
A long and beautiful stage today: leaving N'Kob, we quickly gain altitude in the Jebel Saghro massif and cross the Tizi n'Tazazert pass, at about 7,500 feet. The views are incredible and continue until our descent towards the Dadès. We discover the shades of red of this emblematic valley and reach our favorite inn.
Dadès - Ait Ben Haddou Stage 7/8 129 miles
Dadès - Ait Ben Haddou
Last stage on the slopes of the High Atlas, beautiful tracks lead to Skoura. After a week at the handlebars of our Royal Enfields, these tracks become accessible and we cross them with confidence. It's hard to believe our eyes, the landscapes unfold one after another, shades of red and yellow succeed each other, it's a triumphant end to the adventure.

  • Mandatory insurance: insurance covering medical expenses on site. Repatriation assistance, which covers you in case of 2-wheel accidents (large displacement).

  • Legal insurance and cancellation insurance highly recommended.

  • International driving permit.

This tour follows deserted roads and rolling tracks, about a quarter of the riding time, which are not complex; but there are a few technical passages and some sand, so it is not suited to complete off-road beginners (an off-road course beforehand is a plus). Riding with a passenger is discouraged on this tour. Mornings and evenings are cold and days are warm: bring rain gear. One night is spent in a basic camp in the dunes, where a shower is not guaranteed.

The tour starts in Aït Ben Haddou: a shared transfer leaves Marrakech airport at 2 p.m. on day 1, so plan to land before noon, and book your return flight after 3 p.m. on the last day (the transfer back takes about 4 hours). Some stages are far from medical facilities: first assistance is provided by our support vehicle, and the phone network can be unstable. As on any mountain route, road conditions depend on the weather, during and before the tour.
