Welcome to Nepal! You are met at the airport according to your flight times and transferred to Patan. Authentic and full of life, this "City of Beauty" is the ideal starting point for your motorcycle tour in Asia and a first day to acclimatise.
Patan - Chitwan Stage 2/14 106 miles (170 km)
Patan - Chitwan
On the first riding day we reach the Terai, the breadbasket of the country, strikingly similar to neighbouring India. In the afternoon, a short walk in the jungle of the national park, where the abundant wildlife and plants contrast with the mountain landscapes of the Himalayas. Night in an eco-lodge.
Chitwan - Tansen Stage 3/14 115 miles (185 km)

We head northwest, making our way out of the jungle up winding mountain roads to Tansen. These roads are a real playground for our Royal Enfields! We explore Tansen, a small town far from mass tourism, whose quaint streets and easy-going locals make for a relaxing stroll after a long day’s ride.
Tansen - Pokhara Stage 4/14 90 miles (145 km)

A beautiful stage to Pokhara: the road is good and climbs the green valley of the Aadhi Khola river. We stay alert as we enter Pokhara, where the traffic builds up. Arrival near Lake Phewa in the afternoon. Free time.
Pokhara - Tatopani Stage 5/14 81 miles (130 km)
Pokhara - Tatopani
We set off towards Mustang, and the serious business of your Nepal road trip begins... The track climbs along the Kali Gandaki river, the valley grows ever narrower, and at last the first snow-capped peaks of the Annapurnas appear ahead of us, at over 8,000 metres! Arrival in Tatopani and its hot springs.

This short stage of about 28 miles (45 km) proves that Mustang has to be earned! The first stretch to Ghasa is the hardest: the rock-strewn track is very steep in places and has a few serious fords. The landscape becomes truly spectacular today and gives us the energy we need to keep going!
Marpha - Muktinath Stage 7/14 37 miles (60 km)

Today we explore the ancient kingdom of Mustang, an imposing territory of rocks and deep canyons, dominated by the highest peaks in the world! We cross Jomsom, the valley’s largest village, and gain altitude, passing the 3,500 m mark. We push on through this amazing mineral landscape and reach Muktinath (3,700 m).
Muktinath - Tatopani Stage 8/14 50 miles (80 km)

We descend back into the Kali Gandaki Valley along a deserted, rocky track carved into the mountainside. The view of the summit of Dhaulagiri, at over 8,000 metres, is impressive, almost unreal. We continue on our way to the village of Tatopani.

We enjoy the first 16 miles (25 km) of track before returning to tarmac! A good traditional meal awaits us in Sarangkot, with an exceptional view over Pokhara and Lake Phewa. We stop 12 miles (20 km) further on, at the top of a small hill near Lake Begnas.
Rupakot - Bandipur Stage 10/14 50 miles (80 km)
Rupakot - Bandipur
We descend the hill of Rupakot via small winding roads before crossing the main road and climbing back up to the charming village of Bandipur. We end the day with a stroll to admire the village's traditional architecture.
Bandipur - Gorkha Stage 11/14 31 miles (50 km)
Bandipur - Gorkha
A short leg, leaving time to rest in Gorkha. We take as many small roads as possible to avoid the main road, which is often busy with traffic, although some sections are unavoidable. The adventure continues!
Gorkha - Nuwakot Stage 12/14 124 miles (200 km)
Gorkha - Nuwakot
A long and beautiful day's ride takes us towards Kathmandu. As we follow the Trisuli River, our route is dotted with encounters of all kinds, set against a backdrop of lush rice fields, pine forests and imposing gorges. We stop in the charming village of Bandipur before continuing on to Nuwakot.

We hit the road for this last day of riding in Nepal. The road is narrow and beautiful: we cross a pass and ride through Shivapuri National Park before reaching the capital in time for lunch. Time to say goodbye to our bikes. Free time and an evening in Kathmandu's lively Thamel district.

  • Compulsory insurance: cover for medical expenses in Nepal and repatriation assistance, including accidents on large-capacity motorcycles.

  • Legal protection and cancellation insurance (strongly recommended).

  • International Driving Permit.

  • Payment : A 50% deposit when you book and the balance 45 days before departure, by secure online payment. A £31 registration fee applies to your first trip with us only. Learn more
  • Cancellation : Fees depend on the date, from 15% of the price more than 60 days before departure to 100% less than 8 days before, plus handling fees. Learn more
  • Insurance : Medical and repatriation insurance is compulsory. Bring your own policy or take our partner's, at £18 per day. Learn more
  • Riding gear : Helmets and riding gear are not provided. Bring an approved helmet, jacket, gloves and boots. Learn more
  • Travelling solo : You share a twin room with another participant, or book a single room for a supplement, subject to availability. Learn more

This expedition is reserved for experienced riders. It includes long stages at high altitude (passes above 3,500 metres), far from immediate medical help. Our support vehicle provides first assistance in reaching the nearest medical centre, as helicopters and ambulances are very rare. Limited phone coverage can make it difficult to contact emergency services. As on any mountain route, road quality and difficulty depend on the weather, both during and before the trip.

What is the route of Mustang: the Legendary Expedition?

A 14-day loop from Kathmandu with about 746 miles (1,200 km) on the bike: Chitwan, Tansen, Pokhara, then the tracks of the Kali Gandaki gorge through Tatopani and Marpha up to the temple of Muktinath at 3,700 metres, before returning by Rupakot, Bandipur, Gorkha and Nuwakot.

How does it differ from your other Nepal tours?

It rides the demanding tracks of Lower Mustang, with steep, rocky sections and fords, but does not enter Upper Mustang. When is the next departure?

The last scheduled departure runs from 20 October to 2 November 2026. No departure is planned in 2027: to ride Mustang in 2027, choose From the Jungle to the Gates of Mustang or Upper Mustang: Adventure in the Forbidden Kingdom.

What riding level do I need?

This expedition is for experienced riders in good physical shape: long stages at altitude, passes above 3,500 metres and rough tracks. Off-road experience is a real plus; our off-road training courses will help you prepare.

Can I bring a pillion?

Only if you already ride two-up off-road, at £2,290 (€2,610). The group is limited to 10 motorcycles.

What is included in the price?

The tour costs £3,090 (€3,450) per rider, including the Royal Enfield, fuel, an English-speaking motorcycle tour leader, a mechanic and a support vehicle, accommodation, full board, the Mustang permit and airport transfers. International flights, visa fees, insurance and a refundable deposit of €600 per motorcycle are not included. A registration fee of £31 (€35) applies on your first trip with us.
