Jean
Jean, a passionate motorcycle guide, has been exploring Morocco since 2006: over 40,000 km across Dakar tracks, the Rif, Middle and High Atlas, the desert, and hidden roads. An adventurer at heart, he is always seeking out small trails and nights under the stars.
On the agenda
This itinerary is a loop of striking contrasts, between the Atlantic Ocean, desert plateaus, and the Anti-Atlas mountains. Riding the single-cylinder Royal Enfield, we follow wild coastlines, cross palm groves, explore oases, and ride through mineral valleys sculpted by time. This one-week journey combines cultural discovery with immersion in breathtaking nature, among perched agadirs, Berber villages, and ancestral kasbahs. From sea to desert, then from desert to mountains, we reconnect with that unique feeling of freedom that never leaves us. Accessible yet diverse, this route is ideal for a first Morocco motorcycle tour, alternating small roads and easy tracks.

This ride includes a few long stages far from immediate medical assistance.
Primary support to reach the nearest medical center is mainly provided by our assistance vehicle, as helicopters or ambulances are extremely rare. Unstable phone networks may sometimes make contact with emergency services difficult.
As with any mountain itinerary, road quality and route difficulty depend on weather conditions during and before the trip.

The Argan Tree Route: your questions

How is this tour different from your other Morocco tours?

It is our only Morocco tour starting from Agadir: 8 days with 6 days of riding, between the Atlantic coast (Mirleft, Legzira, Sidi Ifni, the Plage Blanche) and the oases and hilltop villages of the Anti-Atlas, as far as Tata and the kasbah of Tizourgane. The Wonders of the Atlas Mountains and The Gateway to the Desert start from Marrakech and last 7 days. For more off-road riding, From the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Dunes and the Berber Raid are for riders who have already ridden off-road.

What riding level do I need, and is there any off-road?

The tour is rated Accessible: a full motorcycle licence and regular riding are enough, which makes it a good first motorcycle tour abroad. About 15% of the route is on easy tracks, the rest on small coastal and mountain roads. Some stages are far from medical help: the support vehicle follows the group.

How far do we ride each day?

About 721 miles (1,160 km) over 6 riding days, so 99 to 143 miles (160 to 230 km) a day. Expect a full day in the saddle, with stops (an argan cooperative, fortified granaries, beaches) and lunch on the way, sometimes with a local family or as a picnic.

Which motorcycle will I ride, and will it suit my height?

A Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, serviced by our mechanic, who follows the group with the spare parts. A lowered seat is available: if your height makes you hesitate, either way, talk to your travel advisor before booking.

Can I bring a pillion?

Yes, this is one of our best tours for two-up riding: little off-road, and the luggage travels in the support vehicle. The tour costs £2,190 (€2,490) per rider and £1,790 (€1,990) per pillion.

Who leads the group, and how many of us are there?

An English-speaking motorcycle tour leader and a mechanic, with a support vehicle that carries your luggage and the spare parts. The group is limited to 10 motorcycles (12 participants with pillions).

How much does it cost, and what should I budget for on top?

£2,190 (€2,490) per rider and £1,790 (€1,990) per pillion. The price includes the motorcycle, fuel, the team, accommodation, full board from dinner on day 1 to breakfast on day 8, the planned visits and transfers from Agadir airport. You pay for your flights, drinks, tips and a €600 deposit per motorcycle.

How do I get to the start in Agadir?

The tour starts and ends in Agadir, and you book your own flights: the airport is served from many European cities, some with direct flights. Our team meets you at the airport on day 1 and takes you back on day 8, according to your flight times. Day 1 is free to enjoy the beach and the harbour. To arrive earlier or stay on, ask your travel advisor about the options.

When does the tour run, and what is the weather like?

Departures run from November to March, away from the heat of southern Morocco; open dates are shown on this page. Days are mild, but mornings and evenings can be cool, especially in the Anti-Atlas: bring a warm layer and rain gear.

Where do we stay, and what luggage should I bring?

In standard to comfort hotels and guesthouses, including a night facing the ocean in Mirleft and another in the kasbah of Tizourgane, perched on its rocky spur. The support vehicle carries your luggage: bring a soft bag rather than a hard suitcase.
