Could you tell me a little about your passion for bikes?
I passed my motorcycle licence in 1993 and I’ve always loved taking a leisurely ride. The Royal Enfield is perfect for that! I run several hair salons and I don't really get time to ride during the week, but I love hopping on my bike and heading to the country of a Sunday.
What motorcycle tours have you already done?
I’ve been on several trips as a family with my partner Igor and our daughter Nikita. In Europe, we’ve been to Corsica, Italy and Greece. Then, in 2013, we decided to go further afield and the three of us went to Rajasthan when Nikita was just 11. The next year, we went snow biking in the Laurentian Mountains in Canada. Then, we wanted to do a motorcycle tours India returned as a family to ride the Spice Route in Kerala. The following year, we all took to the roads of Ceylon in Sri Lanka. Then, in 2018, we went to do a Thailand motorcycle tour with a small group: my husband, my daughter, my dad and a couple of friends who we met in Argentina. Last year, however, we parked up the bikes to make one of our family dreams come true: whale watching in Baja California in Mexico.
Which trip had the greatest impact on you?
The first one with my family in India on a Royal Enfield. This trip in Rajasthan with Ravi was perfect. It was unique and a little crazy that Nikita could come along and ride pillion behind her dad! But any first trip to India is just an intro; I dream about going back one day!
Why did you decide to sign up for our 2020 Girls Ride?
I try to set myself a personal challenge every year. Time goes by too fast and I need to do things for me. Last year, I didn’t really get chance to and this year, the friend who usually joins me on my adventures isn’t available. I wanted a big challenge this year because I turn 50 in the summer! So Igor encouraged me, and I signed up. I’ll miss my little family but the destination –Bali and Java– totally appealed to me. I know I’ll be comfortable riding a Royal Enfield and that you are always well looked after with Vintage Rides. I also liked the concept of an all-woman motorcycle tour!
What do you never forget to pack when you set off on your motorcycle?
I never forget to take a neck tube or scarf to protect my hair. It’s a must for me! I also pack gloves I know are comfortable and a decent sun cream for my face!
