For riders who are confident on the road and want to learn the basics of off-road riding, or brush up on them before an adventure tour. The course is rated Accessible and starts from the fundamentals: if you are unsure about your level, talk to your travel advisor. The group is limited to 6 riders. At the end of the two days, the team tells you which level of tour to consider next.
No. The course is for riders only: everyone rides their own motorcycle, and pillions cannot take part, not even on the trail ride. If you want to train as a couple, some of our off-road courses in France welcome pillions, who learn to move with the rider on the tracks.
In Wales, you stay two nights in the lodge on the training site itself, and the off-road gear is lent to you if you need it. Our courses in France, in the Beaujolais near Lyon, last one to three days, with a night in a hotel on the longer formats, and you bring your own riding gear. For riders based in the UK, Wales is also the shorter journey.
You arrive at the lodge from 3pm, and a short briefing introduces the site in the evening. The next day is spent training on the site’s own ground: bike control, picking the bike up, balance, body position, brake and clutch control, riding on loose and wet surfaces and hill recovery. On the last day, you go over the lessons in the morning, then ride the trails and a few small roads with the instructors, with a debrief back on site.
A Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, an adventure bike you will find on several of our adventure tours: you learn on the motorcycle you will ride afterwards. You need a full motorcycle licence and regular road riding. If your height makes you hesitate, talk to your travel advisor before booking.
£765 (€1009) per rider. The price includes the Himalayan 450 and its fuel, the instructors, the guided trail ride, the loan of off-road gear, two nights at the lodge and breakfasts. You pay for your dinners, travel to the site, the optional damage waiver (€52.50) and, on your first booking with us, a registration fee of £31 (€35).
You spend two nights in the lodge on the course site, in a twin room shared with another rider. Dolgellau is a short walk away, with pubs and restaurants for the evening. For a different room arrangement or an extra night, ask your travel advisor: it cannot be guaranteed on site.
Not necessarily: this is the only one of our courses where off-road gear is lent. If you do not have any, we provide a helmet, jacket, boots and gloves. You can also bring your own if you are used to it. Pack riding trousers and waterproofs: the Welsh weather changes quickly.
Near Dolgellau, in north-west Wales, on the southern edge of Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park. Travel to the site is up to you and not included; the nearest airport is Liverpool. If you live in the UK, your licence is all you need. From the EU, you need a passport, as ID cards are no longer accepted for most visitors, and an Electronic Travel Authorisation applied for before you travel: see GOV.UK.
The season runs from March to November. The 2027 dates are not published yet: they will appear on this page as soon as they open. Other dates are possible on request from your travel advisor. With 6 riders at most per session, it is worth getting in touch early.
