Antananarivo Stage 1/11
Antananarivo
Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be picked up and driven to your hotel in the heart of Tananarive. The journey begins, and already, your senses awaken: new colors, new scents, new landmarks… Let yourself be carried away by the wonder and emotion of this first immersion. Enjoy a stroll to the Queen's Palace to admire the immensity of the Malagasy capital and soak in its unique atmosphere. At the end of the day, you will meet your motorcycle guide and take the first steps of this great adventure: your Africa motorcycle tour is just beginning.
Antananarivo - Ampefy Stage 2/11 99 miles
Antananarivo - Ampefy
It's the big day, we extract ourselves from Tana, heading due west to reach this volcanic region of the high plateaus. We stop in a typical Malagasy village, where a coffee will give us the energy to explore and discover the rice paddy landscapes of this beautiful winding road. After several turns, we are expected for a traditional Malagasy meal. We only have a few miles left to reach Ampefy with its geysers and magnificent lake.

We leave Ampefy to continue our journey on a magnificent ribbon of asphalt, life scenes are numerous and the viewpoints extraordinary on this winding road. We enjoy a picnic stop on the terraced rice paddies. We approach Antsirabe, nicknamed the Vichy of Madagascar. We are welcomed by Denis, a Frenchman who has made his lodge a haven of peace. In the evening, we share an unusual meal in town, where we go by rickshaw!

Antsirabe - Ranomafana
A beautiful stage today, as much for the eyes as for the miles. We enter Betsileo land, this wood-carving people, welcoming and smiling. We cross a spectacular valley punctuated by waterfalls. Lunch break in nature, with a picnic facing the mountains of the Highlands. We then turn towards a primary forest: the humidity, the freshness, the atmosphere change suddenly. Upon arrival at the hotel, we are already thinking about tomorrow and the desire to set off again is already felt to discover this primary forest.
Ranomafana - Sahambavy Stage 5/11 50 miles
Ranomafana - Sahambavy
This morning, we trade our Royal Enfields for a good pair of shoes and a local guide takes us to discover the flora and fauna of this natural park. We then get back on the motorcycles for a short stage. The track becomes more playful, but remains accessible. Objective: reach the tea fields to see the pickers at work. Guided tour of the factory, then immersion in the plantations. We end the day peacefully by a lake.
Sahambavy - Ambalavao Stage 6/11 71 miles
Sahambavy - Ambalavao
We leave this peaceful corner to head for Ambalavao. On the way, we pass through Fianarantsoa, the cultural capital of the South. We gain a little height to admire the colonial architecture and have lunch in the quiet streets of the old town. Then back on the RN7. Terraced rice paddies scroll by, red ochre houses set the tone. As we approach Ambalavao, the first rock formations appear on the horizon. The rest promises to be exciting. The Anja reserve awaits us, and it is there that we encounter Madagascar's emblematic animal: the lemur..
Ambalavao - Parc D'Isalo Stage 7/11 165 miles
Ambalavao - Parc D'Isalo
During this day, we will cross the border between the highlands and the Betsileo region to enter the Bara country through the South gate. Along the way, we will be impressed by a spectacular rock formation, reminiscent of the famous Uluru in Australia, an immense monolith dominating the Malagasy savanna. The landscape changes gradually, and we feel the rise in heat. Upon our arrival at the hotel, we will have the opportunity to relax while admiring a magnificent sunset.
Parc D'Isalo Stage 8/11 37 miles

We wake up in this enchanting place, eager to discover the region's treasures, especially the fascinating sapphire mines. Mounting our motorcycles, we set off on an adventure to meet the miners and delve into their captivating world. Back at the hotel, a delicious meal awaits us by the pool. Two options are available to us: explore the majestic karstic rock formations of Isalo, or enjoy a moment of relaxation by the water.
Parc D'Isalo - Mangily Stage 9/11 168 miles
Parc D'Isalo - Mangily
The Mozambique Channel and its beautiful beaches are well worth it! We cover a lot of miles today, but the spectacle is there. Crossing sapphire miner villages, the aridity of the south is felt. We are surprised by a forest with some Baobabs, before taking a road that is more like a track. In the distance, we begin to glimpse the ocean, we are getting closer to Tulear. We enjoy the last joyful cacophony of Malagasy cities before riding on a magnificent ribbon of asphalt that makes us feel the sea spray, before arriving at our beachfront hotel.
Mangily - Antananarivo Stage 10/11
Mangily - Antananarivo
We leave the Royal Enfields aside to fly back to Antananarivo. If the flight is scheduled in the morning, you will be transferred to the hotel and can use your free time to visit the capital. If the flight is in the afternoon, you can enjoy this postcard setting one last time before taking our return flight to Tana by embarking on a traditional dhow alongside the Vezo, a nomadic people of the southwest coast, to navigate the Mozambique Channel, go snorkeling, or eat fresh grilled fish for lunch. Beach extension possible on request.

This raid is reserved for experienced riders. It includes long stages far from first aid. Primary assistance to reach the nearest medical center is mainly managed only by our support vehicle, as means such as helicopters or ambulances are very rare. Unstable telephone networks can occasionally make contact with emergency services difficult. As with any adventure itinerary, the difficulty of the route depends on weather conditions, both during and before the trip.
