Welcome to Rapid City ! Take some rest after your journey at your hotel, or you may prefer to stretch your legs with a stroll through historic downtown, full of vibrant shops, restaurants, museums, and art.
Badlands
2/9 • Rapid City - Wall
Your day begins in Rapid City, after picking up your Himalayan 450, where bustling city streets quickly give way to two-lane roads meandering across the prairie, exactly the kind of scenery that makes motorbike tour in north America so iconic. Watch for bison and mountain goats as you make your way into Badlands National Park, an otherworldly landscape carved over millennia from the remnants of an ancient sea. Your day ends in Wall, an icon of Americana. Quirky roadside advertisements for Wall Drug can be found across the United States and around the world, as well as in countless movies and TV shows.

3/9 • Wall - Hot Springs
After a famous 5 Cent coffee in Wall, listen for the barking of prairie dogs as you make your way south. You will cross Pine Ridge Reservation, a stark look at the reality of Native American relations in the United States. Your day ends in Hot Springs. As the name implies, this is a fantastic place to soak in natural hot springs pools at the end of a long riding day.

4/9 • Hot Springs - Custer
Today carries you north into the Black Hills, through rolling prairies full of bison, pronghorn, and prairie dogs. Departing the gently rolling roads of the prairie, prepare to be amazed by the incredible twisty riding and breathtaking scenery of Needles Highway. After lunch in Hill City, you will turn south and see the massive Crazy Horse mountain carving. Your day ends in Custer, a vibrant little town with lots of old west charm.

5/9 • Custer - Keystone
Heading east from Custer, you will pass through Custer State Park. After riding through herds of the park’s free-roaming wildlife, you will experience the engineering marvel of Iron Mountain Road. With its pigtail bridges, single-lane rock tunnels, and seemingly endless curves, you may want to ride it twice! You will see the Mount Rushmore mountain carving and more beautiful scenery before ending your day in Keystone.

6/9 • Keystone - Deadwood
Departing Keystone, you will make your way through some of the local’s favorite riding roads on your way to the most famous motorcycle destination in America: Sturgis. Enjoy the Motorcycle Hall of Fame and Museum, motorcycle-themed shops and restaurants, and an entire downtown dedicated to celebrating all things motorcycle. From there you will return to the mountains and spend your evening in the iconic gold rush town of Deadwood. With restaurants, saloons, casinos, and famous historic sites, Deadwood may keep you up all night!

Departing Deadwood, you will make your way to Spearfish Canyon. Surrounded by waterfalls, rivers, and towering trees, it feels like the wide-open prairies are a world away. Your ride will carry you across beautiful tarmac into historic Sundance, Wyoming, where you will follow in the footsteps of infamous outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Today starts with a short ride to Devil’s Tower. This dramatic natural formation was America’s first National Monument, and has deep spiritual significance to the region’s Native American tribes. After making your way through the Geographic Center of the United States near Belle Fouche, you will have another opportunity to ride through Spearfish Canyon on your way to the historic mining town of Lead.

After soaking up the history in Lead, you may wish to enjoy a visit to the nearby Sanford Lab Homestake Mine Visitors Center. This is the largest mine in the western hemisphere, with a history stretching back to the 1870’s, and home to the Sanford Underground Research Facility. From there you will enjoy more beautiful back roads as you make your way back to Rapid City. You return the motorcycle before heading back to the airport.
