This is not my first trip with VR. In 2023 I went to Sri Lanka alone. This year, with a friend and a full group of riders... I was a bit apprehensive about the pace... (3 bikes in a couple) on difficult terrain. But to my astonishment, the ride was great. I already knew Thailand, but not Laos. Big shock as soon as we crossed the border. We're in another world... a tested country frozen 50 years in the past. But the welcome we received from the children was one of the highlights of the trip. The state of the roads is deplorable...but that's also the point of the trip... I'm coming back from this trip delighted...exhausted but delighted...?

I joined the Thailand trip in Jan 2025; this was my third adventure with VR (after Argentina & Norther India). As usual the service by VR was top notch from the moment we were picked up at the airport until we were dropped back, including handling motorcycle issues. The twisties in the mountains were fantastic (like the "Back of the Dragon" in TN, USA). The scenery is a mixture of steep mountains and plains in between, with little industrialization. The trip could be summarized with great riding, some off-road, diversified scenery, local culture and camaraderie. Unfortunately, the smoke, due to burning in the fields, was starting to be an issue.

It had been more than three years since I'd last ridden a motorcycle, so I embarked on my Thai adventure with my father and a group of experienced and, above all, caring bikers: I couldn't have wished for a better way to discover this magnificent country and get back on the motorcycle trail. The accompaniment of the Vintage guide and the local guide made the trip truly immersive and authentic. These are memories I'll never forget!
