Set off on an extraordinary mechanical expedition in the heart of winter Mongolia, between endless steppes, frozen lakes, and extreme conditions that can reach -40°C. A Royal Enfield sidecar adventure designed for self-transcendence, solidarity, and pure exploration. This journey immerses you in a raw, silent Mongolia, far from any civilization. You ride across snow-covered and frozen tracks, through grandiose landscapes where vastness and cold set the pace. The experience is punctuated by powerful moments: immersion with nomadic families, nights in traditional yurts, and warm breaks in natural hot springs in the heart of nature. Between effort and contemplation, you discover a unique land shaped by traditions, culture, and extreme isolation. A true committed expedition, where the cold becomes a challenge and the steppe an ultimate playground, on specially prepared Royal Enfield sidecars built for the most demanding conditions.

Talk about excitement! When you set foot in Mongolia for the first time, you just know that you’re about to embark on one of the most amazing adventures of your life. Transfer from the airport to the hotel.

2/10 • Ulan Bator - Dashinchilen – Ugii Nuur
This morning we leave the city by minibus to reach our operational base in Dashinchilen, the gateway to the great steppes. After a Mongolian lunch and taking over the sidecars, we set off on a long asphalt straight road to get familiar with the machine and the cold. The final kilometers are on a snowy track leading to Ugii Lake, frozen under nearly one meter of ice, where we perform our first controlled slides before spending the night in a ger facing the lake.

3/10 • Ugii Nuur – Tsenkher Hot Springs
This morning we cross the frozen lake to reach the village of Ugii Nuur and warm up with a coffee. The day continues on a long corrugated dirt track, through an almost lunar white landscape dotted with herds of horses and camels. After lunch in the open steppe, we head into the Tsenkher valley, where snow-covered mountains give way to forests, before relaxing in the steaming hot springs and spending the night there.

4/10 • Tsenkher Hot Springs – Ikh Khan Khubilai
A free morning to enjoy the hot springs or walk to the source that gushes at nearly 86°C in the valley. After lunch, we get back on the sidecars and ride south along a frozen river and more technical tracks, bordered by forests and yak herds. The sensations intensify with climbs and descents until we reach our isolated camp, where we share salted tea, stories, and stove warmth.

5/10 • Ikh Khan Khubilai – Kharkhorin
We leave the valley via a steep climb where 4x4 vehicles open the way, then continue on a more demanding track toward the legendary Orkhon Valley. Between rocky sections, rugged terrain, and vast panoramas, the morning requires focus and teamwork to get each sidecar through. After lunch, we follow the river and then a faster road to Kharkhorin, the former capital of the Mongol Empire, which we explore during a cultural visit and a traditional concert in the evening.

6/10 • Kharkhorin – Khogno Khan
A gentle departure this morning toward the “Little Gobi,” between open steppes and livestock enclosures. The tracks wind through hills and herds before lunch in the middle of horses in a wide snowy valley. In the afternoon, we reach the Khogno Khan dunes and our nomadic camel-herder family; a camel ride in the frozen dunes is available for those who wish, before an authentic and warm evening in the family ger.

7/10 • Khogno Khan – Dashinchilen – Ulaanbaatar
For this final riding day, we follow the sacred Khogno Khan mountain along a playful track heading north, in wolf territory. A stop at a prayer rock marks our final spiritual moment before gradually seeing villages and more open steppes reappear around Dashinchilen. After a last lunch, we return our machines and head back to Ulaanbaatar by minibus for a final convivial dinner.

Final free hours in the capital to stroll around, shop, or revisit your favorite places before your airport transfer. Those staying an extra night can continue exploring museums, cafés, and shops, while the group gradually disperses toward their return flights. End of this winter sidecar adventure in the heart of Mongolia, with heads filled with icy light, white tracks, and unforgettable encounters.

Today, we set off for Ulan Bator in an UAZ (a Russian van). We take one last glance at the steppes, awash with our memories. Whatever the weather, the quality of the ice or the mechanical glitches that we might have had, there is no doubt that you’ll be certain that this tour will always be a part of you. We spend the last night in a real hotel and it feels good! Those who wish, may share dinner in Ulan Bator.

  • A Royal Enfield sidecar motorcycle with spare parts, each vehicle being occupied by two riders who alternate between riding and passenger positions every 1 to 1.5 hours for safety reasons due to extreme cold conditions.

  • Fuel, parking fees, and any tolls.

  • Third-party motorcycle insurance.

  • Mandatory insurance: medical expenses insurance valid on site. Repatriation assistance insurance, covering you in case of motorcycle accidents (large displacement bikes).

  • Legal insurance and trip cancellation insurance strongly recommended.

  • International driving permit.

This winter expedition in Mongolia, in the heart of January, is exclusively designed for highly experienced riders. It includes long stages through remote areas, far from any rescue infrastructure. In the event of an emergency, initial assistance to reach the nearest medical facility is primarily provided by our support vehicle, as rapid evacuation options such as helicopters or ambulances are extremely rare in these regions. Mobile phone coverage is limited and unstable, which can make contact with emergency services difficult. As with any itinerary in extreme winter and high-altitude conditions, road conditions and the difficulty of the route depend heavily on weather conditions both before and during the trip.

For safety reasons linked to extreme cold temperatures, each sidecar will be occupied by two riders who will alternate between riding and passenger positions every 1 to 1.5 hours in order to limit prolonged exposure to cold and fatigue.
