This discovery tour suits all riders: about 630 miles over five riding days, almost all paved, with about 5% easy gravel. Stages are fairly long, on winding mountain roads. Ideal for couples.

Some stages are far from medical facilities: first aid and transport to the nearest medical center rely mainly on our support vehicle, as helicopters and ambulances are rare, and phone coverage can be patchy. As on any adventure route, road conditions depend on the weather during and before the trip.

The Road of the Gods: your questions

How is this tour different from Secret Roads of Another Europe?

It is our most accessible tour in Greece: a 7-day loop with 5 days of riding around the Peloponnese, from Rafina, near Athens. You cross the Corinth Canal and ride through Kalavryta, Dimitsana, Sparta and Mystras, Monemvasia, Nafplio and Epidaurus, between mountain roads and the coast. Secret Roads of Another Europe starts from Thessaloniki and heads into Albania, with longer days on small mountain roads. For a women-only tour, see our Girls Ride trips.

What riding level do I need, and is there any off-road?

The tour is rated Accessible: a motorcycle license and regular riding are enough, which makes it a good first motorcycle tour abroad. You ride on winding roads, with about 30 miles of easy dirt roads in all, spread over four stages. Some stages are far from medical help: the support vehicle follows the group.

How far do we ride each day?

Just over 620 miles over 5 riding days, so 112 to 162 miles a day. The first stage, to Kalavryta, is the longest. Expect a full day in the saddle, with visits to ancient sites (Nemea, Sparta, Epidaurus) and lunch on the way.

Which motorcycle will I ride, and will it suit my height?

A Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, serviced by our mechanic, who follows the group with the spare parts. If your height makes you hesitate, either way, talk to your travel advisor before booking.

Can I bring a passenger?

Yes, this tour is designed for couples too: very little off-road, and the luggage travels in the support vehicle. The tour costs $2,390 per rider and $1,990 per passenger.

Who leads the group, and how many of us are there?

An English-speaking motorcycle tour leader and a mechanic, with a support vehicle that carries your luggage and the spare parts. The group is limited to 10 motorcycles (12 participants with passengers).

How much does it cost, and what should I budget for on top?

$2,390 per rider and $1,990 per passenger. The price includes the motorcycle, gas, the team, lodging, all meals from dinner on day 1 to breakfast on day 7, entrance fees to the planned archaeological sites and monasteries, and transfers from Athens airport. You pay for your flights, drinks, tips and a $708 deposit per motorcycle.

How do I get to the start, and which documents do I need?

The tour starts and ends at Athens airport, and you book your own flights. A transfer takes you to your seaside hotel in Rafina, where you meet the group in the evening; on day 7, you are taken back according to your flight times. Bring your passport and your motorcycle license: your travel advisor confirms the documents required for your nationality (documents for Greece). To arrive earlier or stay longer, ask your travel advisor about the options.

When does the tour run, and what is the weather like?

The season runs from April to May and from September to November, away from the summer heat; open dates are shown on this page, and other dates are possible on request through your travel advisor. Mornings can be cool in the mountains, especially in the fall: bring a warm layer and rain gear.

Where do we stay, and what luggage should I bring?

In standard hotels and guesthouses, starting with a seaside night in Rafina. The support vehicle carries your luggage: bring a soft duffel bag rather than a hard suitcase.
