A unique and unprecedented motorcycle trip through two extraordinary countries: Thailand and Laos. From Chiang Mai, embark on an adventure on winding roads through majestic temples and lush green countryside. Then cross the border to explore an authentic Laos, with its isolated villages, lush jungles, and UNESCO World Heritage sites, and ride along the spectacular panoramas of the Mekong. This Laos motorcycle tour that starts in Thailand promises a memorable experience, blending riding pleasure and cultural immersion.

Sawadee! Welcome to Thailand. Upon your arrival, our local guide will welcome you at the airport and arrange your transfer to a comfortable hotel. Enjoy this first day to discover Chiang Mai, the "Rose of the North," and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of your Asia motorbike tour.

After a hearty breakfast, you'll meet your motorcycle guide and get acquainted with your Royal Enfield. A very smooth first stage awaits you, through the lush green countryside of the North of the country, where we visit the famous White Temple.

Early departure to reach the border post and set our wheels in Laos. We discover the first typical villages of the north of the country; the differences with Thailand are quickly noticeable. In the evening, we enjoy the picturesque “night market” to taste the local gastronomy.

We head Southwest between terraced rice fields and rubber plantations. We cross the Mekong before reaching Sayaboury province and our residence for the day: the Elephant Conservation Center. Unique in Laos, it is a reception and care center entirely dedicated to the protection of elephants.

On the way for a stage far from civilization! Through wild lands, we follow the winding paths of an old damaged ridge road before descending along a crystal-clear river. A superb paved road takes us to Pakbeng, a charming village nestled on the banks of the Mekong.

Departure at sunrise for the “off-road” day of the tour. In the mountains of Northern Laos, we ride on a dirt track crossing the jungle and some tribal villages. Men and machines are put to the test! We return to the town of Chiang Khong for a last well-deserved aperitif by the Mekong.

We head South along the Laotian border. For 25 miles, we follow the Mekong and gain altitude. Our road follows the contours of a ridge serving as a natural border between Thailand and Laos.

We saddle up for a last day of riding southwest to Phayao. A short break in this provincial capital, by a large lake with mountain views. Last evening in Chiang Mai for some shopping or to enjoy a final Thai massage.

  • Mandatory insurance: insurance covering medical expenses on site. Repatriation assistance, which covers you in case of 2-wheel accidents (large displacement).

  • Legal insurance and cancellation insurance highly recommended.

This trek includes some long stages far from first aid. Primary assistance to reach the nearest medical center is mainly managed only by our support vehicle, as means such as helicopters or ambulances are very rare. Limited telephone networks can make contact with emergency services difficult. As with any adventure itinerary, the difficulty of the route depends on weather conditions, both during and before the trip.
