Asia motorcycle tours

Since 2006, Vintage Rides has been designing unforgettable Asia motorcycle tours for adventure lovers seeking to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations. Our mission? Take you on legendary roads across the continent, far from mass tourism, to discover authentic cultures and raw landscapes.

With an experienced English-speaking guide, you travel through spectacular routes and hidden trails. A mechanic ensures your peace of mind and an assistance vehicle handles luggage and spare parts. All you need to focus on is one thing: living the moment to the fullest.

Choosing to travel by motorcycle in Asia means slowing down to feel, observe, and be surprised. Every route becomes an adventure, and every stop reveals something new.

Want to compare with other continents? See our motorcycle tours worldwide.

Going on one of our motorcycle tours in Asia means riding a true legend: the Royal Enfield. This vintage-style motorcycle delivers an old-school riding experience that’s both accessible and unforgettable. Its classic look naturally sparks curiosity and conversation wherever you go.

Thanks to this iconic Indian motorcycle, you connect more deeply with the local culture. From the Thar Desert in Rajasthan to the volcanic landscapes of Java, from the wide-open Mongolian steppe to the towering Himalayan passes, this machine has proven itself on every kind of terrain. Crossing Asia on a Royal Enfield is pure joy.

Depending on the tour, you ride the Classic 350, smooth on paved mountain roads, or the Himalayan 450, built for tracks and high passes.

Every Asia motorcycle tour is designed around your riding style, with one constant priority: your safety.

  • Adventure Tour: for experienced riders ready for long days in the saddle on rough roads and demanding routes, like Upper Mustang in Nepal, the Mongolian steppe or the Nomad Odyssey in Kyrgyzstan.
  • Motorcycle Ramble: 4 to 6 hours of riding a day, mostly on paved roads, with plenty of time for local culture. Passengers are welcome. Northern Thailand, Sri Lanka and Bhutan are ridden this way. Along the Mekong, through Laos, is also a Motorcycle Ramble but a demanding one, rated Sustained, with sections of track: it is for riders already at ease off-road.
  • Tailor-made: travel with your own group of friends, on your dates, or let our team design a trip around your wishes.

India is where it all started for Vintage Rides, and it has its own page: discover our India motorcycle tours, from the Himalayas and Ladakh to Rajasthan and South India. Across the rest of Asia, our motorcycle tours cover:

Asia motorcycle tours: your questions

From October to April, head for Southeast Asia and Sri Lanka: Thailand (October to February), Laos (October to April) and Sri Lanka (December to April). In spring and fall: Nepal (March to May, October and November), Bhutan (March and April, October and November) and Turkey. In summer: Mongolia (May to September), Kyrgyzstan (June to September) and Indonesia (May to October). Mongolia by sidecar runs in January and February. India has its own page: India motorcycle tours.

Northern Thailand is a good start, from 7 days, on tours rated Intermediate that stay mostly on the road, like On the Roads of Ceylon in Sri Lanka, From Bali to Java in Indonesia, The Dragon Kingdom in Bhutan and From the Jungle to the Gates of Mustang in Nepal. At the gateway to Asia, The Treasures of Anatolia, in Turkey, is rated Accessible, our gentlest level. Whichever you pick, you should already ride regularly.

The easiest two-up tours stay on the road: Sri Lanka, Bhutan, northern Thailand and Indonesia, each with a passenger rate. In Nepal, on From the Jungle to the Gates of Mustang, the rider should already have some trail experience. In Laos, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia in summer, a passenger is accepted if the rider is very comfortable off-road. Upper Mustang and the Frozen Ride have no passenger rate.

Per rider, excluding international flights: $2,290 for 7 days to $3,890 for 12 days in Thailand; $4,090 to $5,150 in Nepal; $4,090 in Sri Lanka; $4,190 to $5,190 in Mongolia in summer; $4,290 in Laos; $4,490 in Kyrgyzstan; $4,550 in Indonesia; $6,390 in Bhutan, flights from and back to Delhi included; $6,590 for the winter sidecar tour in Mongolia. Passengers pay less, and each tour page lists what is included.

On our Asia tours rated Sustained: Mongolia, where much of the steppe is crossed on dirt tracks, Kyrgyzstan and its passes above 9,800 feet (3,000 m), Upper Mustang in Nepal, up to Lo Manthang, and Thailand & Laos: Along the Mekong, with a real day of trails in Laos. They call for off-road experience: build it on a dirt-riding course before you go, or, if you are coming to Europe, on our one-day off-road training in France.
