Welcome to the land of Maharajas! Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to the hotel in central Delhi. Your room is available from 12 PM. Two possibilities: rest at the hotel after your flight, or take the opportunity to discover the bustling Indian capital.
Delhi - Alwar
2/11 • Delhi - Alwar
Your India motorcycle tour begins today! Delhi and its infernal traffic is something we avoid for our riders as much as possible. But for this tour, we have a magic formula to get out of the metropolis while having fun. Then, we will be propelled into rustic India, through a cocktail of small roads and tracks, towards Alwar, which stretches over a part of the Aravalli mountain range, one of the greenest areas of Rajasthan. This morning we ride a little more in this beautiful Alwar region, then cross cultivated landscapes typical of non-intensive agriculture in Rajasthan. In the afternoon, we ride towards and visit the imposing Amber Fort, at the gates of the capital, Jaipur the Pink City. A city built with grandeur and Maharaja legends. A chaotic and exuberant city that will offer you a riding experience that Indian cities hold the secret to... Overnight at the hotel.

Jaipur - Pushkar

First, we need to extricate ourselves from the big city, then ride towards the salty "flat" of Sambhar. Depending on the season and hydrological conditions, this vast lake, dry in winter and summer, offers fun free-ride opportunities. We then take sandy tracks and small rural roads to the sacred town of Pushkar, located in the Aravalli range. Built around a sacred lake, a major pilgrimage site for Hindus and a historical destination for beatniks, the small town is also one of the only holy cities in the country that has a temple dedicated to Brahma, the Great Creator. Overnight at the hotel.

Pushkar - Ghanerao

We leave the holy city for the winding roads of the Aravalli mountains. Not too much track but many very pretty small roads. More track at the end of the stage, depending on our timing. After lunch, we descend from the Aravallis through a natural sanctuary, a small haven of wild forest. We finally ride towards Ghanerao, on the western flank of the Aravallis, bordering Marwar, western Rajasthan, drier, more arid. Overnight in a heritage hotel or ‘Jungle Lodge’.

Ghanerao - Jalore

A demanding day, with a festival of varied off-road terrains. A more sporty stage, clearly. The reward lies in landscapes and areas far from mass tourism, beautiful and authentic. The surroundings of Jawai Lake, habitat of leopards and crocodiles, are at the heart of the day. Then we ride towards the increasingly arid expanses of Marwar. First sandy tracks (light or deeper) to cross. Overnight in a heritage hotel.

Jalore - Barmer

We are now in western Rajasthan, in Marwari Marusthali, the “land of sand,” forming the fringe of the Thar Desert (a semi-desert on our side), which extends to Sindh (present-day Pakistan). Slightly hilly landscapes with grassy dunes, cultivation of pomegranate or castor oil. We arrive at our final destination via narrow, rather well-maintained asphalt snakes, avoiding overly difficult sand. Overnight at the hotel.

Barmer - Thar Desert

We enter the heart of the Indian Thar Desert, where small roads and firm or sandy tracks of varying difficulty follow one another. Exceptionally deep sand requiring physical stamina. We cross remote and tribal villages at the end of the day, and finish this day in the Thar Desert National Park area to spend a night under the stars, with a campfire and beers ("charpoi" camp beds, mattresses and blankets provided).

We head towards the citadel-city, set like an architectural dream in the middle of the arid desert. Coffee, lunch, and free visit of Jaisalmer, a walk in the fort and a visit to the palace and Jain temples. Overnight at the hotel.

This raid is reserved for experienced riders. It includes long stages far from first aid. Primary assistance to reach the nearest medical center is mainly provided by our support vehicle, as means such as helicopters or ambulances are very rare. Limited telephone networks can make contact with emergency services difficult. As with any adventure itinerary, the difficulty of the route depends on weather conditions, both during and before the trip.
