Welcome to Morocco! You are greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy this first day to get acquainted with Marrakech, an ideal starting point for this Africa motorcycle tour. Discover its breathtaking architectural heritage, stroll through the famous souk of the medina, and taste the first local specialties.
Marrakech – Aït Ben Haddou

The Royal Enfield adventure begins towards the High Atlas, Marrakech behind us and the mountains straight ahead. We admire a breathtaking view of the valley south of the Atlas while enjoying a typical Berber meal. The winding mountain road leads us to Aït Ben Haddou, the first stopover town of our trip.

Back on the “desert highway,” the single-cylinders purr. We take a break in the Skoura oasis, a true haven of peace and greenery. Then we hit the road again to the mythical Dadès Gorges, well-known to adventurous bikers for the incredible landscapes they offer.

Early in the morning, we hit the road through the gorges again. We stop in the old town of Tinghir where we visit the medina and its maze of alleys. Leaving there, we will cross the Todgha Gorges, a playground for many traveling bikers, then we begin the ascent to our hotel and cross a pass at 8858 feet, the highest point of this trip.

We leave our hotel in the cool mountain morning, crossing cultivated areas, a complete contrast to the lunar high mountain landscapes we have seen so far, where we meet the local farmers, as warm as they are welcoming.

Return towards beautiful Marrakech, we will make a stop en route in a unique place. We finally arrive in Marrakech. Overnight in a comfortable hotel and evening in the old town for a farewell to vibrant Marrakech.

This trek includes some long stages far from first aid. Primary assistance to reach the nearest medical center is mainly provided by our support vehicle, as means such as helicopters or ambulances are very rare. Unstable telephone networks can occasionally make contact with emergency services difficult. As with any mountain itinerary, the quality of the roads and the difficulty of the route depend on the weather conditions during and before the trip.
