Ulaanbaatar

Your Mongolia motorcycle tours start in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar. This city is home to over a third of the country’s population. It’s a curious blend of buildings from many eras. Don’t miss the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, with its massive Buddha statue.

Orkhon Valley

Riding through the Orkhon Valley is a dream for all nature lovers. This stunning region, shaped by the Khangai Mountains, is filled with vast steppes, forests, lakes, and volcanoes. It’s also the birthplace of Mongolia’s nomadic culture, home to the ancient capital of Karakorum and the Erdene Zuu Monastery. No motorcycle tour in Mongolia would be complete without it.

Lake Khövsgöl

Located in the north, near Siberia, Lake Khövsgöl is nicknamed “the blue pearl of Mongolia” or “the little brother of Baikal.” In winter, the Frozen Ride lets you experience a motorcycle road trip by sidecar across the frozen lake — a truly unique adventure.

The best time for a Mongolia motorcycle tour is in summer, from June to September, when temperatures are pleasant. It’s also the ideal season to witness the Naadam Games, celebrated throughout the country in July.

With about 260 days of sunshine per year, Mongolia has one of the sunniest and driest climates in the world. Winter brings clear skies but bitter cold, with temperatures plunging to -20°C. This dry cold sometimes causes “zud” — extreme winters that result in heavy livestock losses among nomads.

This season is perfect for discovering the frozen surface of Lake Khövsgöl.
