So, are you ready to hit the road on one of the most unique motorcycle tours with us?

When should you go to Tanzania? For a motorcycle circuit, the dry season is ideal and spans two main periods: from December to March and from June to October. Temperatures vary by region but remain pleasant throughout the route of our Tanzania motorcycle tours, with highs around 86°F (30°C). Inland, altitude plays a key role in keeping temperatures cooler, which also creates lusher landscapes. Outside of the dry season, the rainy season affects most of the country.

Along the coast and in Zanzibar, the tropical climate stays hot and humid year-round, with higher temperatures between December and March. Be aware that April and May are the rainiest months for this part of the country. If you’re planning a Tanzania motorcycle tour route through various ecosystems, we recommend sticking to the dry season for the best riding conditions and clearer wildlife sightings.

Located in East Africa, Tanzania shares borders with Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda to the northwest, and Mozambique to the south. The Great Rift Valley — a dramatic stretch of faults and volcanoes — runs through the country. Tanzania is home to Africa’s tallest mountain: the famous Kilimanjaro, which rises to 19,341 feet (5,895 meters). You’ll also ride near Mount Meru and the still-active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano during your Tanzania motorcycle tours.

Mountains, deserts, lakes, forests, savannahs, bushland, volcanoes, gorges, and waterfalls — Tanzania is one of the most ecologically diverse countries on the continent. Its equatorial forests are rich with endemic plant species, making the vegetation here unlike anywhere else.

Some key stops include the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park, Lake Natron, Lake Eyasi, and the Burunge protected reserve — perfect places to spot some of the continent’s most abundant and preserved wildlife. You may catch a glimpse of Africa’s most iconic species: zebras, giraffes, leopards, lions, elephants, wildebeests, rhinos, and more — all in their natural habitats.

Over in Zanzibar, a paradisiacal archipelago off Tanzania’s coast in the Indian Ocean, you’ll find colorful coral reefs and tropical fish. The area is also known for sea turtles and playful dolphins. This contrast between rugged land and turquoise sea makes Tanzania a unique destination among Africa motorcycle tours.

  • Mount Kilimanjaro: Known as the “roof of Africa,” Kilimanjaro is a legendary peak that fascinates travelers worldwide. Towering at 19,341 feet (5,895 meters), it’s the highest mountain on the continent. During your Tanzania motorcycle tours, you’ll ride at the base of its wild, scenic slopes, home to diverse wildlife.
  • Lake Natron: In the shadow of the Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano, also called the “Mountain of God,” Lake Natron offers surreal views and attracts thousands of birds, including flocks of pink flamingos. This is also Maasai territory. The landscape’s barren beauty feels like another planet.
  • Ngorongoro Crater: Located in northern Tanzania, the Ngorongoro Crater is a natural wonder and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s considered the world’s largest intact caldera, spanning 12 miles (20 km) in diameter. This massive natural amphitheater is one of the best places to spot the Big Five — elephant, buffalo, lion, rhino, and leopard. A once-in-a-lifetime safari experience awaits you here during your Tanzania motorcycle tours.
  • Lake Eyasi: Don’t miss Lake Eyasi during your motorcycle road trip. This salty stretch of water is home to the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet local people and immerse yourself in an ancient culture. The Hadzabe, traditional hunter-gatherers, will share their deep knowledge of nature and their customs with you.
  • Zanzibar: If your trip includes Zanzibar, be sure to explore the historic city of Stone Town. The island’s soul and history are still alive in its narrow streets, influenced by Portuguese, Arab, and Indian heritage. You’ll see colonial architecture, mosques, and palaces — a rich contrast to the wild mainland of your Tanzania motorcycle tours.

Tanzania also stands out for the warmth of its people and the richness of its cultural diversity. The country is home to around 125 ethnic groups and more than 100 languages. During your ride, you’ll meet the Maasai, a proud, semi-nomadic warrior people who still live between Kenya and Tanzania. Their striking dress and strong traditions make them one of the most memorable encounters of your Tanzania motorcycle tours.
